Real Talk, The Movement is a hugely popular relationship forum
which gathers members of the opposite sex together to talk shop about
the dynamics of men and women, love and the need for open communication
in relationships primarily from a male’s perspective. Latonya Washington
of LW Special Events hosts and moderates the monthly event in Los
Angeles and the Inland Empire areas of California.
“Can a Woman
Act Like a Woman and Think Like a Man?” Six panelists, three women and
three men sounded off on the controversial question based off the
bestselling book title by comedian Steve Harvey. By the end of the
evening, the consensus on both sides was no. While both sexes can exude
and portray both feminine and masculine traits and personalities, it is
unrealistic for women to think like men. However, both sexes can become
familiar with ways to relate to one another in love and respect. “Can I
Love You? From the Heart of a Man!” was the question posed to the group
last week. These are just a couple of the topics being explored in the
open dialogue forum, known throughout Los Angeles and the Inland Empire
areas of California as Real Talk, The Movement. Every fourth Friday of
the month Real Talk takes over Los Angeles and Inland Empire plays host
to the event every third Friday of the month. Real issues and real
concerns are addressed with each Real Talk event.

hugely popular relationship forum gathers members of the opposite sex
together to talk shop about the dynamics of men and women, love and the
need for open communication in relationships primarily from a male’s
perspective. Real Talk, unlike other relationship dialogue events,
doesn’t focus on cultivating a confrontational environment. Instead, the
panelists and audience participants are each given ample time to
express their thoughts, feelings and perspectives based off of the posed
theme. Men’s perspectives are welcomed, respected and encouraged as
they give women attendees a look into how to connect properly and
insight on their wants, needs and the deal breakers which turn them off.
A relationship coach is on hand for the Los Angeles events to give
expert insight to those looking for more than the cookie cutter
relationship advice often available.
The dynamics of
relationships, marriage and interaction between men and women and
particularly between black women and man is at the forefront of
television, movies and all things media right now. While some are only
interested in making a spectacle out of our failing relationships, Real
Talk is working to bridge the gap and create understanding and solutions
so that our relationships with ourselves and each other can thrive.
“Effective communication is the cornerstone of every functioning
relationship, but if no one is listening, there is nothing to be heard.”
Real Talk, The Movement welcomes those who want to be a part of the
solution and not the problem, men and women who have constructive
insight and want to share their relationship lessons with others. Find
out when the next Real Talk event is taking place by visiting www.realtalktm.org for a list of upcoming event dates and locations and others ways to connect and join the movement.
