Real Talk the Movement TM began in February 2010 after a meaningful conversation between myself and a gentleman at the Baldwin Hills Mall, Los Angeles, CA. He said we, as women, do not understand them, as men. That struck a nerve with me. Over the years, because of the divorce rate, single parent homes, boys and girls failing to see loving and lasting commitments, I felt an obligation to ignite change in our community. With countless discussions between myself and my male counterparts, especially those who were close to me and I knew would be honest and transparent, I took my intent and put it to action. Through the eyes of men, I began to see that we do speak different languages but with effective communication, we are able to learn and understand one another, create happy homes and have lasting relationships both personal and professional.
We're about bringing together a gathering of the minds in a non-hostile environment to discuss ways in which we can address the inherent need for effective communication measures in personal and professional relationships; mainly relationship between the man and the woman. "I love it when real men share truths of how they've gone in and out of relationships, have been hurt--deeply, experience true love and know when a woman is right for them. I also love it when women express how they feel, how they've been hurt, how they give and how they love. It's phenomenal" says LaTonya Washington. We also have our relationship coach on hand, Dr. Ryeal Simms, to keep it on point.
